What price tag on a mountain?

Vulcan Materials, a multi-billion dollar corporation plans to take down a mountain only 0.6 miles from the Fish Canyon residential area in Duarte, in the scenic foothills of the San Gabriels.

Some, like Vulcan look at mountains and see only rock to be mined. Others see mountains and refresh in their beauty. What took nature millenniums to create will soon be obliterated if Vulcan is granted approval by the City of Azusa on a revised mining plan that would substitute 80 acres on the east side of the Vulcan mining area, acres currently approved for mining, with 80 acres on the west side of the property right on the border of Duarte.

Time is running out to make your views known

The public comment period ends on Feb. 20th. Comments may be submitted in writing to

azusarockeircomments@ci.azusa.ca.us. The Draft Environmental Impact Report is available on the Azusa website: www.azusalw.com.
